Dr. Doshi recognized for leadership excellence, commitment to patients

Ankur Doshi, M.D., a primary care physician affiliated with Memorial Hermann Memorial City Medical Center, was recently awarded the 2014 Memorial Hermann Physician Leadership Award for leadership excellence and commitment to advancing the health of his patients.

"The future of health care is dependent on physicians like Dr. Doshi," said Keith Alexander, CEO of Memorial Hermann Memorial City. "He is a highly-skilled physician with a broad understanding of the business of health care. He leads by example and takes an active role in improving our organization and the industry as a whole to ensure patients receive high-quality and safe care."

To be eligible for the award, physicians must be employed or network-affiliated with Memorial Hermann, demonstrate strong leadership skills and business acumen, be an advocate for change and improvement, and most importantly, demonstrate a commitment to advancing the health of their patients.

A native of Kansas, Dr. Doshi received his undergraduate degree from Baylor University in Waco, Texas, and completed his medical degree, internship and residency in internal medicine at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston.

Board certified in Internal Medicine, Dr. Doshi has practiced medicine in the Houston/Memorial City area since 1999. He established PrimeCare Medical Group in 2004, which is certified by the National Committee for Quality Insurance as a patient-centered medical home.

Treating patients 13 years and older, Dr. Doshi's clinical areas of interest include cardiovascular health and wellness, diabetes, hypertension, hyperlipidemia and other aspects of preventive medicine.
